Our Work

Finished surfaces are the only honest advertisement in this trade. Here is recent work across Nelson — homes, commercial spaces, and everything from a single ceiling to a full interior.

A photograph of a plastered wall is a strange thing. Done properly, there is nothing to look at: no seams, no shadows, no ripples where the light crosses. That flat, quiet surface is the whole point, and it is what every job below was aiming for.

Exterior Painting

Nelson is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand, which is lovely to live in and hard on paint. North and west elevations take the worst of it, and coastal air adds salt to the load. Exterior work here is mostly about preparation: washing back, scraping, sanding, filling, priming bare timber, and only then putting on a finish that has a chance of lasting.

These projects show weatherboards, joinery, soffits and trim brought back from weathered to sharp.

Living Room

Living rooms are where plastering gets judged. They have the most wall, the biggest windows and the longest hours of raking light, so any flaw in the stopping eventually announces itself. These are rooms finished to take that scrutiny — flat walls, crisp internal corners, ceilings without a visible joint.

Kitchen & Dining

Kitchens are a coordination job as much as a plastering one. Cabinetry, splashbacks, appliances and lighting all land on surfaces that have to be dead flat and square, and they all arrive on someone else’s schedule. These projects show plastering and finishing worked in around the other trades without holding anyone up.

Bedroom

Often the quietest jobs and the most satisfying: a wall taken out, a wardrobe reconfigured, a ceiling repaired after a leak, a room made good again so completely that you cannot tell where the work happened. That invisibility is the measure of success.

Commercial Space

Offices, retail and hospitality spaces come with constraints homes do not — trading hours, staff on site, deadlines tied to a lease or an opening date. These projects were delivered around all of that, with tidy sites and clear communication about what was happening and when.

Stairs & Lobby

Stairwells and lobbies are the hardest surfaces in any building to finish well. Access is awkward, the walls are tall and unbroken, and the light usually comes from above at exactly the angle that exposes poor stopping. They are also the first thing anyone sees. Worth doing properly.

What to Look for in These Photos

When reviewing these photos, pay close attention to the details that reveal the quality of the workmanship. Check the internal and external corners for straight, sharp lines that remain consistent from floor to ceiling, and make sure plasterboard joins are completely invisible in all lighting. The ceiling-to-wall line should be clean and unwavering, while paint edges around trim, switches and joinery should be crisp and precise, with no bleeding, wobbling or visible touch-up patches.
